a splash of colour, a bit of dip dye

I tried the ombre look about a year or so ago and it frazzled the ends of my hair which I was trying to grow...big mistake! I decided to give it another go before Christmas when I had my extensions put in and it didn't go as blonde as I wanted however it did look nice to have lighter brown ends.

I don't have a decent photo but you can kind of see it in this one, scuse the school girl outfit :)

I then decided to become a red head and have been regretting it ever since as it's becoming such a mission to remove the red and I have been going the darkest brown before black and my hair still fades to show it through. I had my extensions fitted before my Graduation Ball and last week of University and had to have them an off black. I do like the colour but I get bored very easily and have decided to be adventurous and add some purple and pink tones to the ends of my hair.

What I did...

I started by dying the ends as blonde as they could go with Stargazer bleach kit which I got from crazycolour.com. I followed the instructions on the pack and kept the bleach on for 90 minutes. I'd be hesitant with this if it was my real hair however as they are extensions and are pretty long I wasn't too worried.

The result after bleaching the ends looked like this.

I really like it and it's a much better result then when I went to the hairdressers before, however I unfortunately missed out a few sections and some stayed brunette, silly me.

I then put on Directions hair colour which I again purchased from crazycolour.com in lilac, carnation pink and plum. I followed the instructions on the pots and kept the colour on for 15 minutes and then rinsed. You can access Directions instructions here.

Apologies for using my iphone camera, I will upload another one tomorrow once I find my Canon, I seem to have misplaced it in the house.

The finished result has turned out very subtle which for a first try I am glad of as if it was any brighter I think I would have regretted it. I personally think it would have turned out better if my hair hadn't been extensions or more blonde, as I am sure the colour would take to the hair better then.
I will definately give this another go in the future and let you know how it goes.

I am planning on going blonder over the summer for my holiday in September, so may have to add some strands of colour before I jet off.

Have any of you had better results with colouring your hair? Let me know :)

Love love, xoxo Emmy
